Engine idle problems

Hey guys,
I need help. Recently when I start my car, it will idle high and stay that way for up to 30 minutes. Around 2500 rpms... This "problem" only happens about every 5 times I go to start my car (sometimes it will idle fine, but others it just stays reved). It idles high in both park and in gear, and driving the car does not help the condition. Really have no lead on the problem yet, any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

sounds like the iac is sticking, check the maf and see if either looks dirty. clean if any question, be careful with the maf.

Replace or you can clean the IAC (idle air control ) valve and reset the idle to 550 RPM's. My choice is to replace it, cost about $35.

Thanks,
I'm going to clean the IAC valve tommorow, is there anything important to know when reinstalling the valve?

Hey,
I tried the "reset" on that website, and no luck it still continues to stick. If I clean the IAC valve can I simply put it back on the same way I removed it?

yes and blow it dry if you have access to a compressor.

Alright... I put in a new IAC valve. reset the valve. and cleaned the mass air flow sensor.
Doesn't seem to have any affect on the problem. Maybe the MAF needs replaced?

is it the engine itself revving high or just the tach? its common for the tach to read way off a lot. is it pulling through the brakes when you are stopped?

you may have done this already but check to make sure the throttle is not sticking. when its idling high open the hood and pull the arm on the tb to the idle position and see if it moves. no vacuum leaks? egr ok?
