alright guys,

So took a ride home from work today and my engine was running a little hot, straight away i didnt hear my cooling fans stop working. so i wiggled on the wire that goes into the fan motor and it cuts on and off. So im guessing i need a new pigtail connector. BUT...is their anyone that has switched over to a manual clutch fan and can it be done? and input would be appreciated.

on second thoughts, maybe it might be a motor?

 

pull it off and take a look to see if there is any corrosion inside. if there is, i suggest replacing the plug and really cleaning out the connector on the fan. it wouldnt be worth while to downgrade to a clutch fan, and you would also need to get a shroud for the fan as well. you may be able to just make a new connector with some wire terminals if you are good enough to do that.

i looked at the connector, looked pretty clean.

Im thinking about switching the fans, to see if is the motor. Is their anyway i can bypass the ac fan so it runs along with the regular fan.

 

is it the factory dual fan setup? if it is, i dont know if they are run on a seperate relay and fuse or if they are on the same. i know one of my previous cars, they were seperate. you could run a jumper from both the hot and ground on the main fan to the a/c fan so that it will run them both, but i dont know if that will pop the fuse. it may, but it only hurts the fuse if you do it correctly.

 

yea its a dual fan setup, im thinkin of taking out the ac completely, because i dont run ac.

checked out plugs and connector look pretty clean.

Just switched the motors too, going to see if that works

 

alrighty, keep me posted. if it is a bad motor, i do have a set for sale that i know work

 

got them both hooked up and threw in a bigger radiator and its much cooler.

Any ideas on what temp i should have my fans come on...?

 

With my ECM (not the stock prom) controlling the fans, the drivers sde comes on at start up and stays on until 35 mph is reached. The passenger side works with the A/C and only turns on when the Temp hits 220 deg. Using a 180 deg themostat and all new cooling parts I normally run a 180/200 with the A/C and 180 deg on the highway with the A/C on or off.

Just a note: When using a fan switch the fans should not be on all the time, if they are it will cause more problems then it is worth.

 

yea thats what i am runningis a fan switch, so im trying to find out what a good temp is before they come on.

Im thinking like 180 -200 degrees
