Default ECM question

Ok, here's the deal. I bought an 85 IROC_Z from someone who didn't know what they were doing at all. He screwed up quite a few things, the latest issue being the ECM.

The IROC_Z is a 1985 that originally came with a 305 HO (per running the VIN) that he later swapped out for a 350 with an 88 TPI slapped on top. The 350 he put in was crap and I swapped it out for a rebuilt S&S with a slightly aggressive cam.

The engine was always running rich and fouling up the plugs. This lead to me to check the ECM and sure enough, its the one for the 1985 IROC_Z. So...

Q1: Will an ECM for a 1988 IROC_Z work with this line-up?
Q2: Will/should I purchase a new harness?
Q3: Where is a good online store or two that I can purchase these?
Q4: I might decide to get a custom program for this new ECM...recommendations?

Thanks for the help,

Dorff

1985 ecm was a odd ball year and not worth keeping. Right now you have everything going the wrong way. The present ecm & chip are NOT running that 350 but what was installed at the factory.
Since there was not 350 in 85. I would start with a later model ecm with a 350 chip.

contact www.pcmforless.com and ask if they have any cores for that year engine. if so, you can get the entire ecm, as well as a tuned program to match the specs on your engine. get as much info as you can about your engine including cam duration, lift, cylinder heads and if modified, compression ratio, fuel injector rating (if 350, should be 22lb if still stock, should be stamped onto injector), exhaust setup, and any other changes that have been done. i am currently running a chip from them in my car and it runs spot on, better than it did with the stock engine and stock tune
