cracked rails

hi i am the proud owner of a 84 Z28 HO, camaro ilove the car shes my baby and now she has a issue and i am not sure were to start, basicly today when getting the safty done for tags they noticed that the frame by the stearing box has cracked from stress of turning those wheels, other then trying to find the raw miterial and tryin to fabercate my own patch i was wondering if any one else has had this problem how they solved it and if their is a kit out on the market, the reasion i am askin about the kit is same thing happend on my dad's 85 chevy short bed and they had a kit from fisher, when i went to their site no luck for us camaro guys,

Try welding for a repair if the cracks are that bad. GM came up with a fix for this problem..A "Steering Box Support Brace" and the can be found at a lot of 3rd gen Vendors.
Exampe: Spohn, UMI, Topdownsolutions and salvage yards. Price less then $100.
This problem resulted from the then new 16" wheels & 245/50 series tires and now people are using larger combo's which highlight this stress area more. Additional note: Only IROC's had this brace.
