im begining to think i may have a different rear than what came in the car. RPO codes claim a 3.08 LS. Where is the stamp at that would tell me? i know its in the "pumpkin". but which gear would i need to be lookin at for it? Would it be the ring gear? or the spider gear assembly? ( if thats what its called, im pretty ignorant in rears). Either way im hopeing to eventually change it, but im curious as to what it is for now.

 

The ratio is stamped on the OD of the ring gear. That is the only location that will give you the correct ratio .

 

Or from the outside, you can do the old "turn and count" method.
