Default Car won't hold idle.

Have any of you guys ever heard of an Idle Learn Sequence?? My car wouldn't hold an idle. Above 20 MPH things are fine. Get below 20 MPH and it would drop below 400 RPM and or stall altogether.

I had another issue to deal with also and the was the ignition coil. I replaced the coil and that solved my no spark issue. I also did the plugs, distributor cap, rotor, MAP and ignition control module.

Anyways, I got to the garage to have them look at it. The guy tells me he just had to go thru the Idle Learn Sequence. Everything is fine now. Just sounded funny but the car idles great now. So if you car won't hold an idle that could be one thing to look into.

I assume you have a computer controlled car, but it would help if you told us what you are working on. The idle is controlled by the computer (PCM/ECM/ECU) through the IAC valve. Depending on the car, it takes a few start and run cyles for the computer to find the sweet spot on the IAC valve and get the idle right. However, if there are vacuum leaks, or tampering with the throttle valve, or the IAC valve is not working properly, or the engine is mifiring, the engine may never idle properly.
