Can you help me get my car cranked?
Hello I have a 1985 Iroc Z with a LT1 350 corvette engine in it. When I try to crank it up it just acts like it want's to turn on but doesn't. Then if I try to use starter fluid it will stay cranked untill I let off of the spray. The car has been sittin under a garage for a bout 6 months give or take now. Also here are some pics of it. Could any one at all please reply with some opinons on the car and mabey how to get started. Thanks..

RE: Can you help me get my car cranked?
Thomas,
if what your telling me is correct then your engine is not getting fuel. I dont know how much or you know about engines but an internal combustion engine needs 3 things to run. First thing is fuel, second thing is air, and third thing is a source of ignition. If its missing just one of these it will not run. You say that as long as you spray fluid it runs. So that should tell you that is getting the air it needs along with the ignition source. So that leaves just thing left. Its not getting the fuel that it needs to run. I take it that by your pics that you have TPI.
Here are somethings that would cause your problem. Though it could only be one or it could end up being several. First of all check to see if there is gas in the tank. Most problems end up being the simplest.
In your fuse panel there are 2 fuses that are for the injectors...see if there blown. Also in the fuse panel there is a fuse for the fuel pump this could be used in combination with other things so dont panic if you cant find it. Its there...check that as well.
If the fuses are good then you could have a bad fuel pump thats located in the gas tank or you could have a dirty fuel filter. Or you could have a bad fuel pump relay.
It could also be caused by dirty or clogged injectors.
Or worse your ECM could be bad.
Start out with the most obvious things first..and that being check to see if you have gas in the tank. Then check the fuses. From there check to see if your fuel pump is working. Which if not then that could be a bad fuel pump or just simply a relay...or both.
This chould give you a idea of where to start.
Let me know how it went.
thanks
