The biggest problem is your transmission. If you make the engine put out the power you need to take care of the Mustang, the transmission won't stay togheter very long. But to answer your question, probably the cheapest and esiest thing would be to install a nitrous system of 100-150 HP and leave the rest of the motor stock. You can make the same power on just the engine, but it would cost a lot more.

What year is the 4.6? 96-98s werent too quick stock. Then in 99 they changed the heads and intake manifold which made them quite a bit faster.
