Burning Tranny Fluid
I'm still workin on my 90 Camaro Iroc w/ 350. I have changed my tranny fluid 3 times in the past 2 months or so. For some reason the tranny fluid is burning. I've had it flushed the 3rd time to make it wasnt just old fluid in there. Still burning though. Can anyone tell me what causes this?? Is it something I can fix? Thanks in advance!!
Internal slippage will cause friction, more heat, and will burn the fluid. Your clutch pack might be worn and slipping. Does the trans slip at all when you accelerate?
Another thing is to make sure the trans isn't overheating from having a faulty cooling system.

i Have noticed that when i'm on the high and i accelerate...it does slip a little...it's like it is down shifting in the passing gear but it revs up to almost red line...not quite the same as the normal down shift for a passing gear...not sure if that makes sense. Havent had any problems with the cooling system that i know of.

You can try replacing the regular Dexron fluid with the B&M trick shift fluid, or with type F for Fords (which, btw is basically the same stuff as the trick fluid without the fancy color dye added, and price tag). Both have traction additives (which Fords need anyway), which help make the clutches grab better, slip less.
Or you could try one of those anti-slip additives from the parts store, they do work. A buddy of mine has a trans that's been on it's last leg for two years. Puts that stuff in and the slip stops. You're buying yourself some time. But if it's slipping now, and you don't have the money to replace the trans, you can at least make it last a while longer.
