didnt spin a bearing... oil still looks clean and new no shavings nothing

even pulled dipstick tube out n ran a magnet down into bottom of oil pan to pick up any possible shavings to check for spun bearing and came out clean.

the engine still runs smooth no ticks knocks squeaks or grinding noises

i may have a mild blockage....i hope...... hence the reason why im going to put a pint of sea foam in my oil and drive it a little

and i dont wot it right after start up i wait till it at least gets to 80-100*

oh and its a brand new mechanical auto-meter oil pressure gauge

Something is wrong with gauge, it shouldn't go past its numbers. You shouldn't be revving a cold engine that high.
What do you mean you ran a 1/4 pass before you tuned things in?
Most people make SURE everything is dailed BEFORE they make a pass

read his post in the engine section. he messed with the pressure relief spring in the oil pump.

btw, a magnet will not pick up a spun bearing until it starts wearing into the steel, which takes about 200 or so miles

First off, you won't get 40 psi at idle with a worn out 305....not going to happen. Putting spacers in is not the answer....its like putting lighter springs on the return linkage on the carb for faster acceleration.

I'm wondering why he THINKS he NEEDS 40psi at idle.

if you are willing to spend the money on a cam and lifters but not a new oil pump--heart of an engine--then all problems stemming for it are a mute point. just my 2 cents.
