I'd need to know what I was getting with respect to the engine

if this is your daily driver and you're just looking to get back on the road inexpensively, then roll the dice

I don't know what your situation is, but if it were me I would take a long hard look at this whole deal. It sounds too good to be true, again, I don't know your situation but I would want to know what motor I'm getting....as well as trans (conditions and specs). If i wanted a daily driver I would get a camry....not a generic swapped in low comp v8 that would most likely put out as much HP as the camry.

Don't mean to sound negative, maybe you are one of the most lucky people out there, but remember that you get what you pay for.

well it is my daily driver but i also have another car and i was wanting to also turn this car into a show car. or give it show car quality. everyone wants a nice looking car with a competetive engine in it right? thats what i want idk whether i should order a rebuilt engine and tranny and just pay to have it put it in. im just kinda stuck every way i turn.

show car or just a cruise night car? there is a HUGE difference

go to my thread in the 3rd gen project and review what I did to a 89 rs

the end product was not a show car but it did attract attention of enthusiasts

when i popped the hood there was no way of knowing if it was an L03 or a 383

all you saw was a cleaned up engine bay, a smnall block chevy, headers, wire looms with blue wires and a chrome air cleaner. When i started it the car mad e anice rumble thanks to flowmaster

to even get to a decent cruise night vehicle the big expense won't be the engine or tranny.

I can pant vehicles myself and have the gear; can you? If not, to sand, prep, fix some surface rust and prime/seal/paint/clear will run you close to $3,000 and could run even more if you want a color change. if you can do any of that work then you save $$$

I used paint from paintforcars.com and so far so good

the interior will cost you a small fortune.

I was lucky to find brand new leather upholstery and I reskinned the seats and they look awesome. I was also lucky to find a guy who was parting out a firebird with black interior and the pastic was in excellent shape so I grabbed all his plastic pieces and new weatherstripping for only $175. Those are very rare finds and you must be looking for deals all the time, even if it's 6-9 months before you need the item. Since these cars are so old those finds are less frequent. I was also able to repair the dash myself but you'll probably need to buy a new cap (again not cheap)

new rug, headliner and sun visors also are not cheap

so, go price out weatherstripping alone and your jaw will hit the floor.

too many people get caught up on the mechanical portion when the body/paint/interior end up costing the most

well iv actually got a good interior. its in excellent condition the plastic needs painted due to fading but not a lot needed on them but this thread is no longer valid i jus bought a 92 RS camaro with a 350 tranny and engine in it. and this car also has a much nicer body. id just like it to have a different color cuz i hate white. it needs work to become a daily driver cuz it was being built for the drag strip. i appreciate the advice from all of you. the only advice i need now is on how to replace the "rear end" of a car and how to make the engine quieter.

Apparently he's done with project, as he has another thread stating his 350 drivetrain is too loud. So maybe they did have the christmas spirit.....
