Axle leaking on rear drum and shoes
My newly aqquired 92 rs has been having trouble stopping. Today on the ice i Put her in drive and had my foot on the brake. Well the rear wheels were spinning i had to throw it in Neutral.
So i removed the drum to find not only out of adjustment but an oil soaked drum and shoes.
well not really oily more like greasy. Maybe old gear oil from the rear end being overfilled.
what do you guys think?

You don't mention how many miles are on it,but it sounds to me that you've got leaking seals back there. Make sure the car is as level as possible, and check the gear lube level,if oil comes out when you pull the fill plug, it's too full and the oil may be puking out the axle seals,or vent(if it's not pluged with dirt). If you pull the fill plug, and nothing comes out...stick your pinky finger in the hole to the 1st knuckle, you should get oil on it,if not,the level is too low,and most likely leaked out somewhere (axleseals, pinion seal or the vent). Another thought is that it may have had leaking wheel cylinders at one time.Check your brake fluid too. Good luck...bri
