Default auto to manual

hello all, i am new to these forums and very soon i will be buying myself a camaro. most likely i will be getting a 1991 Z28 camaro auto with the 350 engine.

i was wondering if it is possible to make this car manual, and if it is possible how much u guys think it would cost to do.

Anything is possible if you want to spend the money. No 350 3rd Gen car came with a manual tranny for a reason, the T-5 was a weak transmission. You would need a 4th gen tranny and it is possible, but is it worth it????

Not only are you looking at money but labor to gotta drop a clutch pedal and the tranny swap itself. It'll prolly cost more than what u are willing to spend when you could jus go with 4th generation car save time and money.

If you get a shift kit for that 350 you will be going just as fast as some of the manuals. A shift kit would be worth the money for that engine. I personaly like the manual but a shift kit works just as good

The one thing I can say. If you DO go for the manual swap, get a T-56. There's no need to spend all that money and get a 5 speed, you'd be better off with the 6, and with as much as the 5 speed conversion costs, it's not that much more money.

yea, ive got a 350 5 speed in my 89 rs, so its very possible to MAKE, but like black said they didnt come with that option for a reason, if your ONLY planning on driving it without steppin on it hard, i dont see why the 5 speed wouldnt be alright, but you gotta be nice to it. I havent been, and i can already feel a little bit of a problem starting to develop. But as long as you keep the HP down (i think that tranny could only handle about 300 TOPS) and the foot outta the gas, its fine... but thats hard to do.

I plan on going T-56 in my 87 whenever I ever get the money. So don't feel like youre alone on this one.
Hey, umm, if you get it going good, you oughta do a how-to so as to aid confusion on any others who attempt this...
