aftermarket headers and spark plug wires
i have an 85 z28 with aftermarket headers. the problem is the spark plug wires are very close to the headers. currently the wires run through the headers. whats the best way to fix this? wrapping my headers voids the warranty and apparently will make them rust very fast. can you wrap the spark plug wires???

just found spark plug wire insulation so i guess that takes care of that.

Your solution is to run 'shorty' plugs. They are about 3/8 of an inch shorter and make a huge difference. Also, you can run spark plug wire protectors. They are small asbestos sleeves that slide over the wire. This is a very common problem. You should have no problem finding the short spark plugs and sleeves.

accel shorty header plugs that work great. i have hooker 1 5/8 tube headers. i run an hei and 90* boots at the headers with wire looms. the work great without using insulation. in my experience the plug wire insulation acts as an over for the wires. but it will get you by for now.

i think the best possible way to prevent the wires from the headers is to wrap it with thermal wrap its the safest possible way to protect the wiring harness
