Default Acceleration question

I have a '91 Z28 with 305 and 700R4 Automatic. What is the best gear to take off in from a stop to get the fastest acceleration?

Serious? Unless its a manual valvebody tranny....you've only got one choice.

Try "Drive". That usually works best.

Well i have 2 drives. First one is more for economy driving i think because it cruises at lower rpms than the second drive, but when you get on it the rpms don't go as high as they would in the second drive.

Yeah, the D with the little box around it enables overdrive. Generally you'll want to always use that, unless you're in a driving situation where you won't want to use it. Descending steep hills, for instance, or towing a trailer.

It won't affect your acceleration either way; all it does is allow your transmission to use the overdrive gear. When you have an automatic, you're wisest just to let the transmission do its job and not try to mess with it.
