I have a 1992 camaro and whenever I go over a bump in the road, even when the trunk is locked, it still moves up and down and jiggles. I was wondering if this is a common problem in Camaros and/or if there's any way any of you could help me out by telling me how to fix it.
Thanks-
Thanks-

You will need to purchase a new pull down unit if you can't tighten or adjust your current unit.

It is what makes the hatch close easy. You push it down and it will click then a motor pulls it shut tight. It was a feature found in Cadillacs years before. The early third gens did not have it and you had to really slam the hatch to get it to latch.

As its been said its the pull down unit, you can adjust it so it holds it all the way down so it doesnt move or anything. I have the same problem with mine every so often and just have to adjust it.

Oh yea by any chance does anybody know how much a new one can cost?

Ironically enough I just began work on a similar problem.
If you remove the trim in the very back of the trunk you'll find that the entire mechanism is supported by four bolts. Now I don't know how this goes for most '92 camaros, but my hatch lock is from a '91. Either by design or due to compatibility issues, once the bolts are a bit loose there is about half an inch of space for the apparatus to slide. As far as I can tell, the bolts only need to be tightened after the assembly is properly positioned to eliminate any trunk travel.
In addition, it could be that your hatch is not being pulled down to the bottom where it is secure. I also had this problem and I am waiting for a replacement for a plastic pull-down gear that snapped. Can you open and close the trunk without any problems?

Well the problem is that the idiots that had it before me i guess took it out. It opens and shuts easily but whenever i go over bumps or railroads the hatch bounces up and down but it is still lock. This might be making or might not. See when i bought the car i didnt know what i was getting my self into. there was alot of wires cut and put together wrong like putting black with white wires. Alot of stupid stuff like that.
