'90 IROC Fuel Pump Fuse Location/disconnect
 

So I can't find a fuse to disconnect the fuel pump to relieve the fuel pressure prior to working on the fuel system.

The only fuses I could find in the fuse box were called Injector Feed1 and Feed 2, fuel pump still primed when turned on when these fuses were pulled. Only way I could stop it was to pull the ECM fuse, but then car wouldn't crank over.

How can I turn off the fuel pump?

I think it will have a fueable link or an inline fuse. Disconect the relay. But extended cranking will build up oil pressure and that will energize the pump

what is it you are trying to do?

I need to depressurise the fuel system so I can disconnect fuel lines without fuel spraying everywhere. Trust me I already replaced the fuel filter without depressurising and dont want to go through that again!

Where would this inline fuseable link be located? How can I disconnect the relay?

Also how wil increased oil pressure trigger the fuel pump?

The fuel pressure will bleed off over a short time. So it is not needed to disconect it.
I think there is a 20 amp bladed fuse under the hood. Maybe on the left side by the firewall?
The computer sends a signal to the relay to energize the pump for a couple of seconds to build pressure to start the car. Then the pump runs off the oil pressure via the oil pressure sender

But the fuse for it should be under the hood on the passenger side up by the battery/fender well. It's in a weather resistant black fuse block inline...

i changed a fuel filter just 20 minutes after the car was cranked, and there wasnt much static pressure.

Ok thanks for the info, i'll have a look for it tomorrow.

A side question is that if the fuel pump runs off the oil pressure sender and that sender is malfunctioning, is it possible to have driveability issues due to the fact that the fuel pump might not be supplying enough pressure due to malfunctioning oil pressure sender? My oil pressure guage jumps all over the place, never lower than what is really happening, but it sometimes jumps and pegs full high, more so when engine is hot. Driveability issue is most noticeable when engine hot....can lack pick up and feels bogged down under load at low RPM's.
