If the check engine light flashes, it's pretty much saying "Turn me the f___ off now, and tow me to a mechanic!" Ussually if the check engine light is flashing, something with the emissions system is so bad that you're going to end up melting your catylitic converter. I'm not exagerating here, I saw a firebird once that was driven 2 hours with a flashing MIL, and whenthe owner (one of my genius friends, I'm sad to say) parked it on the grass, he caught his lawnon fire because the cat was so hot.Get it to a nearbymechanic with a Tech 1, or a good quality generic scan tool, and have them get you the information from the PCM. Do NOT take it to an auto parts store with a scan tool for this one, they ussualy know how to pull DTCs and little more than that.Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but it had to be done.

Listen to Flufytiger. He knows what he's talking about. A flashing check engine light means something bad is going on and it needs immediate attention. Bring it to a nearby shop that knows what there doing.

It kinda sounds like a problem I had w/ my 01 impala. When my light flashed, my car was idleing wrong, eating gas, and lost power. It turned out it was misfiring. Let me say this though, I am only 19, inexperienced, and my impala is extremely different from the camaro. Just thought i would put that out there...

if that check engine light is flashing then u really need to get to a mechanic with a scantool soon like FlufyTiger said. theres not much u can do until u know exactly whats wrong and a scan tool will tell ya. u probably have a misfire thats causing ur car to run really rich and its endangering ur catalytic convertyer.
