hey guys, i have an 88 iroc-z, its a 305 tpi car. its been sitting for ten years and i changes the plugs and wires, and drained the stale gas, it runs but it has a miss, and after its running for a bit it when u give it gas it breaks up and u can bearly move, and when its idol and u floor it in neutral, it goes to like 3200 and wont rev higher, but when u ease into it and hold it 1/4 of the way it will rev to like 4800, but wont go higher, i think it has a couple bad injectors. but what r common problems on these motors?

 

maybe check the distributer cap and rotor and check for ware.

 

it could be a number of things. air filters good? i think 88 still had a mass air flow sensor, check that and clean it if needed. replace the cap and rotor and check the timing. after that is done, there could be issues with the fuel injectors or fuel pressure regulator

 

i ran an obd 1 for error codes and it said map voltage is too low and the ignition control module code, would an ingition control module cause 2 cylinders to misfire? i would think it wouldent fire all the cylinders
