Default '88 Iroc-Z Camaro

I'm about to buy a 1988 Iroc-Z Camaro from a friend of the family. It has a 350 v8. Is there any nice tweaks or tricks I can do to the car to make it easier for me to hot rod around a little more than once a month or so without throwing the automatic transmission out?

And what are the other specs about this year? I've been stuck in the early two generations for a long time... just now getting into third gen. Dude I had that exact olor scheme on my 89 IROC and loved every second of it!
As far as tweaks go Exhaust ie: headers all the way back to the tips. I had a Hypertech chip in mine but mine was a TPI set up. You can do alot to that car you just need to know what you want? how much you're willing to spend? and what your ultimate goal with the car is.

Well, the people I'm buying this car from have taken all the computerized stuff in the dash... ripped it all out and replaced it with standard equipment. Runs just like a 60's model Camaro inside an '88 body. I love this car.

I just want to make this car the ultimate cruising around and randomly racing car. Me and most of my friends race each other and other hotrods and imports around the city. Not wanting to spend a lot on the car, but enough to make her my baby. lol. Not that she isn't already,

Well if the engine runs good start with the exhaust. Put a K&N air filter on it. You could also go intake, heads and cam. Take it one step at a time and remember watch your budget.

I'm watching my budget 24/7. lol. I'm buying this car for only $1500. Almost nothing wrong with it except I gotta tighten the transmission head. It's a tad bit loose, but hell that can be fixed in 10 minutes.

I test drove this car yesterday and immediately fell in love with it. Hugs the roads perfect at even 80 mph. lol.
