Default 85 Z28...joke? or idiocy?

hey guys, thanks a lot for the info about the RS i had questions on. decided that im gonna pull that out of the picture. tonight me and my mom were lokking at cars on Vehix and came across an 85 Z28.

the guy said it had a new engine with 45,000ish miles on it, and an A/T. from the one picture i saw it looked flawless. orange racing stripes on black, with some brand new chrome rims (couldnt tell the manufacturer) and new tires also. ive been looking for the site to show you guys the one picture but cant find it. he is asking $3000 for it. i texted him tonight and asked him the question..."whats wrong with it?" he replied, (actual quote) "Nothing is wrong. It is just 85."

im going to check it out this weekend along with...(i kno, its against the rules of nature to mention this name on these forums) an 87 mustang GT 5.0L foxbody.

now, whats going for the camaro is that it looked like it was in prestine condition and a new engine in an 85. what i REALLY didnt want for a first car was an A/T. the mustang has a full exhuast system and it sounds exactly how id like it to sound AND its an M/T. if i bring back pictures and info about the camaro that i get a lot of good feedback on here with, then im gonna pick it up with no question in my mind. if not, then i might hav to switch over to the dark side, even though im a true Chevy boy myself <

found the vehix page with the camaro:

http://www.vehix.com/inventory/Vehic...InMiles%253D25

i forgot that the vehix report looked totally wack, unless he replaced it with a 1L V8 and it only has 1 gear...

45,000 miles is hardly a new motor anymore, especially if it's a rebuild not a "new" crate motor.
Not that it's high miles just far from "new"
How many miles on the car?
Price sounds about right, could be a good car if it's not rusty or been wrecked bad/fixed and runs it good.

Price doesn't sound bad honestly.

I overpayed when I bought my 85 z28 for 3k. These cars are not worht that much anymore unless completely restored.

That said, good luck finding a Manual transmission 3rd gen that is not an after purchase swap. The number of factory 5 speed 3rd gens out there is much smaller than the auto ones. At least here in NYC. Also, the ones that ARE around are all BUTCHERED by people turning them into track cars (Nothing wrong with that.) and then running out of money half way through.

It took me a year to find the 89 iroc I found with 5 speed option code. And that had its own problems but nothing like being butchered for a track.

price not bad on the first one and both rides look good in the photos but check every where for rust.

now ive heard that camaros arent really worth that much unless really well kept or restored, is this true? cause im thinking that this orange one is a huge deal for $3000, but is it really? i dont know how many miles the new crate engine has on it, but if the car itself isnt worth that much in th first place then idk why that would have an effect.

I would go with the 2nd one. 87 camaro with a 355 here that I say at the car show sounded sweet, but I dont know what cam he was running. he had the same carb and headers though. and if I am not mistaken a 355 is a 350 bord .030 over so your closer to being a stroker 383. get a stroker kit with a cam and your almost set. lol. hell I got relatives there. I may go take a look see myself.
