'84 Z28, what's it worth?
Hi Folks,
We're planning to sell my wife's two owner Z28 to make room in the garage so I can restore my 71 Vette that has been stored for the past 21 years. We need help because we haven't been keeping up with prices/values lately.
It's an 1984 Z28, 5.0 liter HO, Automatic, with T-Tops. It has 122,000 miles on it and is in very good, clean condition with a clear title. Paint is original (red), but still looks good. The front plastic nose has faded somewhat and has a slight shade difference from the rest of the body. Interior is very good except for a 6" wear tear in the carpet on the side of the driver's footwell and 3 small holes in the rear seat fabric. Mechanically, it runs very strong, but the AC compressor does need to be replaced. BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires are OK. Hood support struts/pistons are a bit weak, but the hatchback supports have been replaced.
This car is all original and is a great survivor example. It's located in eastern Washington state and used to be a summer daily driver until it was stored in the garage for winter 7 years ago. Just got it back on the road last month...
Any comments or ideas on it's value would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Paul

Thanks JrM,
Finding that illusive "right buyer" is always the hard part of selling such a car. Do you wait for someone who truly values the car and is willing to pay somewhere near what it's worth, or do you accept an existing lower offer??? A bird in hand and all that...

Good luck on $3k-$5k! My brother in law lives north of Vancouver and listed a very similar car on Craigslist starting at $2500 and didn't even get a call! His is a 1984 Z28 with 5 spd. and a new 305 crate motor with less than 3,000 miles on it, even the same red with T tops.
He recently lowered his price to $1500 and only got two calls, and they never showed up. He ended up selling it to me today for $1,000 so I can part it out to use the running gear in my Austin sedan, and sell the rest for parts.
The market in the NW for 3rd gen Camaros stinks.

I do agree, the market stinks right now. $3-5k is in an ideal economy, so expect a little less right now. But being all original, garage kept, and in good condition really raises the value of these cars like anything else. 82-84 Z28's are becoming more sought after than in previous years due to there not being many unmolested cars out there. If it was an all original CFI car, it would easily be worth $5k+
My point is, there's thousands of these cars to be had with mismatched drive trains, rusted out sheet metal, trashed interiors, etc., but to find one untouched in great condition is a littler harder to come by.

if it is in good shape like u said just a couple things here n there which is expected your not gonna get more then 2,5k. id ask for that to start n yea wait for the right buyer but u should be able to get 1,9 or 2k its just a matter of waiting.
