Just picked up a 1982 Z28. Paid 1500 and it's got a rebuilt automatic racing transmission with the 305 V8. I want more HP out of this car but I'm pretty much brand new to the domestic scene. I'm used to imports and Hondas. Can anyone tell me if sticking parts into this 305 is even worth it? Or Should I try to swap in a 350/400 small block? Any input/resources here would be helpful. Thanks.

the 305 isnt much of a motor, kinda slow. you can build it to have a lot of power. but for the money spent to do that, you can just have a nice 350 to swap in which is a relativley easy if you have any kinda experience.

That's what I was guessing too. Thanks. Next question. Im in Southern Minnesota, for Honda they make all sorts of websites, the best being Hmotors to get blocks and motors but where's the best place to buy a chevy. Either a used 350 for a rebuild or maybe a block to start fresh on. I've swapped Honda motors before so I'm assuming with the correct research I should be able to do it. The problem would be to whether it bolts up to my tranny or not. They rebuilt it racing or something the guy I bought it for said, same one that came with the car though.

if its the same tranny that came in the car and just rebuilt, then the case should bolt up to about any 350 chevy u can find, if it is infact the factory tranny. and for a motor, u can just look in junkyards for one. or u could buy a brand new crate motor but that is kinda pricey.
