82 camaro 455 olds. any risk?
IM getting a 1982 camaro, and i have an oldsmobile 455 with an automatic tranny i plan on installing... should i have any problem with the rear axel or do you think im gunna tear it up? what might the specs be on that rear axel if anybody knows? any key thoughts i should know about before i do this? the 455 will be fairly stock, minor mod's if any.

That engine is pretty much of a torque monster, so I wouldn't push it too hard using the stock rear, especially if slicks are used. It would be a good idea if you changed to a 12 bolt rear, or even a Ford 9".

thats what i was thinking. i could get a 3.02 or something rear end out of a custom cruiser, which is used to that kind of motor. but i dont know if i want that FAST of a rear end... i have a driving record as it is. lol

ya they dont fit in the engine compartment properly, the exhaust hits the frame, the mounts have to be moved and welded on,just grab a 350 stroke it and call it good,i put a olds 307 same block size but smaller slugs, its not worth the hassle, trust me but if you can pull it off hats off to you, still easier to find parts for a 350 or even a 400 s/b
