Depends on what your plans are for using it. If your wanting to drag get your hands on a th350 their not any diff. from a th400 execpt there a hell of alot lighter. 700R4 s can be a good drag tranny but they need a performance rebuild.

They are both good. but it depends on what you want. The th350 and th400 are great for drag racing. Not real good for cruisin around the town or anything like that. but the 700r4 gives you the option of an overdrive which is really good for the street. 700r4 can be built just as strong as the 350 and 400, it jus depends on what you want.

700R-4 is computer controled lockup which can be converted to a pressure switch or hotwired to lockup in 3rd gear. TH400 works on hydraulics. the 700r-4 becomes very unpredictable without computer assistance, i have found through using one in drag racing. it tends to only shift at very high rpm's. without computer assistance it isn't very practical for a daily driver. the th400 would be a more reliable tranny in my opinion.
