Default 5spd transmission

Hey, im new here, I spend most of my time on dodgeforum.com but I have been working on my project, a 3rd gen camaro or firebird. Right now I have a 88 camaro, I am not sure if it is the one I am putting together yet, I got it for a good price (free!!) because the guys wife was withholding the bedroom until it was gone lmao. I just finished building a 350, 4 bolt main. Should have around 350 hp and 400 lb ft of torque. It has forged aluminum coated pistons, steel crank, mild cam, double roller timing set, Mallory distributor, holley 650 double pumper, edelbrock performer intake, melling high volume oil pump, solid lifters, jegs chrome bolt kit, and lots of chrome! Now my question is, the camaro came with a 5spd tranny and everything I would need to put it in a car. I know I would need to find the correct bell housing, but would the transmission be able to take the power of my engine? And heres a pic of my baby, I cant wait until I hear her run! I am also looking for another camaro or firebird, preferably a 82-88 firebird in the Ft. Lauderdale/Miami area or the Nw Ohio area. Btw, I just turned 15 and built this engine when I was 14. Thanks!

Great job on the motor jr! Is the 5 spd trans from a 82-92 camaro or from another type of car?

You may want to search the wrecking yards for a T5 5spd originally bolted to a V8 f-body. The bellhousing and input shafts are different from V8s to the V6. The input on the v8 trans is 26 splinebut the v6 is 14 spline. I'm not sure internally if the 8 is stronger, they both look the same to me but not sure.

The v6 trans will bolt to a bellhousing from a v8 f-body but you'll need to but a special clutch disc that has the 14 spline hub on a larger diameter frame.

Stock Camaro 5-speeds can't take more than about 300 ft-lbs of torque. You might want to invest in a beefier transmission.

Ok, Thanks. I know I have more than 300 lbs ft of torque. More like 400, lol. I would like to get a 4 spd or I will just end up putting the turbo 400 my dad keeps pushing.

If you want to keep it as a stick shift look into a Tremec TKO. They can handle around 500-600 ft/lbs and they're 5 speeds. If you're going to keep it around 450 you can also look at a 6 speed out of a 4th gen camaro.
P.S. The engine looks great
