Default 4th gen for 3rd gen

I'm considering trading my 96 3.8 Camaro for a 305 3rd gen. I have a quick question for you 3rd gen owners. I noticed that some of the 3rd gens are tune port injected and some are fuel injected. Once I get whatever I get I plan on pulling the 305 out and replacing it with a 383 stroker. Are the fuel injected Camaros any harder to make carbuerated then the tune port injected ones? Any help is necessary.

First, TBI or TPI, they are both fuel injection.
Second, You are swapping the whole engine. build your 383 for a carb. Go with a non computer controled dizzy and you could wire the intank pump to work for you. You will just need to regulate it down to around 7psi

agreed. even find a car with no motor since your going to pull it anyway. less work, less time, less money. just make sure it was a SBC in there.

Ive heard from a good builder here, that when you make a stroker, its much easer ( not to mention WAY CHEAPER!!) to use a carb setup rather than the TPI setup. You have to burn a new chip, tune it right, yada yada yada. He told me that its a PITA to get it to run right and idle right. If you have the ability to burn the chip or prom, which ever you wish to call it, then go for it. its a very cool looking setup IMO. Let us know how you come out!!

Ok so the 305 intakes that say "fuel injected" doesn't mean efi. Glad to get that worked out, lol. My dad was saying how high of maintenence carb motors are because you have getthem jetted and you have to let them warm up a bit before driving them. Would an electric choke be the way to go? What is the "non computer controlled dizzey" that MadMikeZ28 mentioned?

The distributers will be computer controled. If your going to go carb then you will totaly get rid of the computer unless you get a car with a feedback q-jet (wich I doubt you will go that way) Also the 700R4 has a TCC but you can get small controlers for that by TCI or B&M (maybe others)
