4L60E tail ext. housing question
I'm thinking of using a 4L60E auto trans from a 2wd truck to go into my 3rd gen. Camaro. I've noticed that the truck trans does not have the mounting pads for the stabilizer bar that connects to the rear end. Also, the truck trans has two support bars that connect from the front inspection plate to the side of the engine block for extra support.
My question is:
Is the two support bars necessary in a Camaro application?
Is a 3rd gen tail housing pretty much interchangeable with all 4l60es?
Thanks for any replies.

The tie bars fom the transmission to the engine are not used in Camaros, but it may be a good idea. Chrysler uses them in many of its passenger car applications. The tailshaft housing is interchangeable, but there may be a problem with the tailshaft itself being the wrong size. By the way, you will need a later model computer or stand alone module to control the 4L60E transmission.
