Default 350 TPI vs 350 TBI

Well I am buying a 350 TBI for sure soon here and I was just wondering if I am loosing power by going carbed rather than injected? The engine is cheep and i am going to buy it because i really need a new engine for my 2.8

Yes you will lose a little bit. Fuel injection is more consistent and adjusts automatically for the conditions. You CAN produce more horsepower with fuel injection, but there is a cost $$$

I can still pump the power out of a carbed engine also right? like they arent dead in the water or anything right?

LMAO ... go to the drag strip and see how many rods have idiot boxes and how many are carbed. there are ten times as many carb motors at any given strip at any given time. idiot boxes are designed for those who can't tune a carb. a carbed engine can push just as much or more horsepower than one fuel injected. just because an engine has a thousand wires running to it, doesn't mean it's fast. TBI is not a carb. It is not a good setup to use on a 350 at all. TPI or a carb would dominate over TBI unless you modded the TBI unit and had a good tune.

well not to brag or anything, but i have a 350 tbi and i run circles around MOST, not all mustangs and other camaros of the generation. Granted a TPI would be better i think, but my throttle body 350 is pretty damn powerfull without spending tons of time and money on it.

A carbed 350 is just a carbed 350. TBI means there are carb jet-style injectors mounted on top of a throttle body. It looks kind of like a carb trying to be a fuelie, and in the right hands with the right amount of love, it can work really well, but it's alot cheaper to make power from a carb. It all depends on who's doing the work and what they want the car to do for what amount of money. As for being idiot boxes, it takes a lot of ***** to take on trying to fix one of those. It's a pain in the ***, and your average idiot sure as hell can't fix it, hence some of the wiring jobs we hear about on some of these cars the newbies buy. Not to discredit you, Sick, as I do have alot of repect for you, and I myself prefer carbs over FI any day, but fuel injected cars pay the bills, unfortunately.
