basically i want to open the intake up to match the new pipes.

i was thinking the edelbrock performer intake manifold

with a holley 670cfm throttle body.


except i read somewhere that the edelbrock intake has like 1 1/4 inch openings and the holley tbi is like a 2" bore so its kind of a waste
anybody got a recomendation on a different intake to use with this tbi.
also im gonna buildsome kind of new air intake system so will hood clearance be an issue. as far as height of a new manifold and tbi unit.

also both these units say direct oem bolt on. but there are variations in aluminum or cast iron heads and other things is there any specific model i should be using for a 1991 lo3 305tbi thats all stock for now. im gonna take out the AC before i start.

and any help with egr non-egr units which will work better for me.

any input would be appreciated just trying to get different points of view before i start

 

you might be able to take the intake and throttle body to a machine shop and see what they can do, maybe they can bore out the inlets a bit to match the throttle body. BUT, that might affect the manifolds flow.. be carefull

 

i would rather not have to have it machined if i can buy another manifold to fit this tbi. ive looked but the descriptions r confusing.
i imagine this engine is cast iron heads but i dont know if i have to keep the egr system for the computer to work correctly.

 

ive done these mods your doing. i took my stock manifold got it port and polished and bored out to 2in and installed the bigger throttle body. it does work and i got 2 tenths at the strip with the manifold alone! as for the hight issue the edelbrock manifold is only about a 1/4 in higher than stock so dont worry about that. id run with the egr, the computer will go into a freak, ive had it happen, plus it really wont hurt horsepower. you could get a new prom to work with the mods to.

 

You also might want to think about a mild cam and lifter kit? I installed the same manifold and tbi on my 91 rs and it really woke her up, also addd 3 inch piping to a 80 series flowmaster! not a 350 cu. but snappy still the same, without terrible fuel mileage. Good luck
