Question 305 to a LS1

I have decided that i'm going to take out my 305 and put a ls1...i want to get around 400 rwhp. So, i have decided to put a ls1 in it and know that that will be around 340 to 350 right there so what is the best way to get that extra 50-60 hp the cheapest way possible..with out running spray...i want this to be an all engine car for right now. So anyone wanting to get rid of well i mean sell a ls1 let me know...and also like i said what would be the best way to get that extra 60 without spending thousands?

Where are you getting this engine from? If you're buying new, don't bother with an LS1, spend the extra $500 and get an LS6 instead. It'll cost less than building a new LS1 and it'll be 405 hp from the get go.

OR, you can save a TON of money and build a really mean 350 or 383 stroker. Unless your stuck on the LS series.

also true. you HAVE TO KNOW what your doing here. Its not a simple project at all. Unless your taking it to a shop to do this.. but then you better be ready for a LARGE bill

the physical install of the car is rather easy. its just different motors mounts. the trans bolts up. the hard part is going to be getting an unmolested wiring harness and an ecm. then you have to get it all transferred. its been done, but it takes a lot of work. im sure theres a guideline book out there somewhere.

well, if you do it. Take LOTS of pics and jot down little notes as you go along. When your done, make a thread on it. That would help stop the question thats asked at least once every few weeks. I myself have asked.
