305 again
Hey guys,
Sorry to be annoying again but I've decided to go with a Comp Cams XE262H-10 "Xtreme Energy" hydraulic flat tappet cam. 218/224 dur @ 0.050, .462/.469 lift, 110 deg. I was wondering should I upgrade my valve springs after swapping for this cam? Also I know that a single plane intake should be the way to go but will it clear my stock hood? Is there a dual plane that would be better to use? My final plans are to use Hedman shorty headers with flowmaster muffler, the upgraded cam, an upgraded intake, and the entire engine is being professionally rebuilt. Any thoughts on the intake that I should use? How about upgrading the valve springs?

RE: 305 again
You're gonna want to swap out the entire valve train except for the valves. May not be necesary to change everything, but it doesn't hurt either. Call comp and ask what rockers, springs and lifters they recomend for the cam you chose and the other internals you've got. For the intake, you should be alright as long as you stay clear of anything that warns against clearance issues.

Perfomer manifold.
Performer rpm would be idea, but it is taller...I think if you use a single plan manifold you will loose some torque on the lower end,
we used the 262 in a 350 for a blazer, 3.73, gears, manual 4 speed. 30" tires...very good response. he ran the performer rpm and a ebelbrock 700 with MSD/hei adapter, long tub headers and flat top KB pistons..it had alot of *****..pulled very hard from 2000-3000, he could hit 4500..
Excellent street cam, 1300-5600rpm, heads might restrict that some though on the upper in,
it should run very well.

RE: 305 again
with that short of lift the stock valve springs are fine. stick with the single plane and yes it will clear the hood. that cam is pretty mild but, if thats what you want who am i to differ. Sick
