Default 305...

as many of you have probably noticed i wanted to swap and ls2 and t56 into my car, however at this time that is a lot of money that i cannot afford. but i do want to do some upgrades, i st ill got my heart set on the t56, because i got 140,000 on my car and i have a feeling the tranny is about to take a ****ter. anyway, as for performance upgrrades i have a tbi 305, igot performance ignition, double roller timing chain, lt1 cam, new lifters, 3.42 10 bolt posi rear, flowmaster exhaust. now i noticed holley sells a bigger throttle body, they make a 4 bbl, and a bigger 2bbl, id probably have to get a new intake manifold to match the bigger throttle body and i wanna get nicer heads. because i hear that the heads and cam that they put in the lo3 motor is the worst cam and heads ever released. my question is if you guys can pulll me up somethin on summit that will suit my needs. i dont need a 500 horsepower car, this is my everday car... except for in the winter. i just want 300-350 horse. thanks guys

140K on the engine with all those upgrades? Find a rebuilt 350 for under 800 bucks and do the swap. A midly worked 350 will give you in the 325 horse range. My 350 is .40 over, cheap headers, Brock carb and intake, store bought performance ignition....and lets not forget the 3.73 rear end. (I know it doesnt add to the horsepower, but it sure helps to feel it....)

I just picked one for the link. There are 4 to choose from. Standard or vortec heads and stock or higher horses with a custom burned chip.

hm i may get the one for the vortec heads, and according to that 305 build up link, i can get vortec heads at a gm dealer for 408 a pair and i get a discount via my work at balise chevrolet. i pay 10% over what dealer pays so i could get the heads real cheap. and ill buy that intake manifold with the 4 bbl throttle body, and since my 305 has 140 thousand on it, even though the guy before me had it rebuilt, when the block starts to ware i could jsut get a 350 short block, and transfer everything over, and when i get the short block i could get a bigger cam then the lt1 since id have better flowing heads. however my question is... how hard is it to do headers on the third gens? i know you'll need shorty headers with the y pipe, and im considering just gettin rid of the cat, september-ish of this year in my state every car 1995 and under does not have to pass emissions. and my sticker is good till march :P. anyway after im done with al these upgrades im contemplating on getting headers, and gettin rid of the cat and get a 3" headerback exhaust, as opposed to the 2 1/2" exhaust. does this all sound worth the investment?
