3 questions...
Alright i just put 3.42 posi in my car, and i would like to top off the gear grease, is there any special grease for posi gearing? Also i would like to get a performance oil for my camaro, i heard synthetic oil on older cars is a bad idea, any suggestions would be nice. AND now that i have 3.42 gearing rumor has it my speedometer will be off, how do i fix that?
thank you,
mike

RE: 3 questions...
You have to use a friction modifyer in the oil. Or the only oil I know of and use is Royal Purple and it has the friction modifyer in it.
If you have a speedo cable then you will need to change the driven gear and maybe the housing. Chances are the drive gear will be the correct one.
I have heard of synthetics finding leaks easy but if you have no leaks you know of and want to spend a little extra use it

The general rule of thumb is if you have oil leaks now, synthetic will leak a little more. If you have no oil leaks, go ahead and use synthetic. It doesn't cause oil leaks, but it will find existing leaks and it slips out more easily than conventional oil does. I use synthetic on my 91 RS, 305 TBI with 185,000 miles, and I have no problems.
