I have a 1985 Berlinetta with a 2.8 v6 and a 5 speed transmission. I am wanting to put a built 305 in. Not a fuel injected one either. I just need to know if i need a different bell housing to bolt it up to the 5 speed in the car. I have heard it both ways. That i wont need a different bell housing. And i have heard that i do. Please help me solve this before i start the swap. Thanks.

 

read the sticky and you will find out. to answer it quickly, you need the trans from a v8 car. the bellhousing is not interchangeable unless it was a 5 speed from a 95 up car

 

And stop playing with a 305.....just go to a 350.

 

Lol. Ok. Thanks for the info!! And the 305 is enough for now. Already have it built. Plan on buildin a tpi 383 stroker for it next year!

 

hahaha, good luck. im about $6k into mine right now and it still needs a bit more before being technically street legal
