Default 1988 Camaro switch question

Hey guys its been awhile since I last visited this forums. But last time I had questions about getting my camaro to run I came here for awnsers and I got them and ive been driving it for a whole year now and it hasnt broke down on me once yet lol so thanks for the help guys !

I have one more minor problem and its about my music system that the old owner of the car installed and he really abused the speakers and the right side is blown out

But he also installed an 500wat amp with a bass speaker in the trunk of my camaro (Sorry if that isnt the correct name for the speaker lol)

The problem is! this bass speaker wont turn off... It is always on. On all of the cars I have seen with a bass speaker they have an on and off switch.

I dont want to be driving everywhere with this bass blasting because if I turn my volume up just ALITTLEBIT from 0 Volume I can literally see other cars vibrating lol and I dont wana be that guy

I was wondering if you guys think this is the on and off switch ? Or does it have a different purpose. Switching it up and down does nothing.. The red bulb doesnt light up. I guess the wire is bad.

(Sorry about the bad quality )

I just want to drive and listen to my music without the bass blasting whenever my music is on lol. I just want to be able to turn it on when I want and not have it on all the time.

I'd say you should look at the back of the radio and locate the wires connecting to the bass speaker. Cut the positive wire and run it to a switch conveniently located. Then you can turn it on and off at the click of a switch;-)

that switch is probably for a false security system. pull the amp out and you will see a small gauge wire that goes into the amp. it is the remote switch, it turns the amp on and off by the radio. if you added a switch to that, you can simply turn it on and off. you can also get a remote gain dial and turn the bass up and down independantly of the stereo volume
