Default 1986 Exhaust question

I have droped a 350 with a TH350 into my 86' Camaro and installed Hooker headers. I was just wondering if anyone has a similar build and how they ran their exhaust? I have 2460HKR headers which are shorties. Any help will be appreciated.

Good luck with that idea, you will be dragging your exhaust on the ground. Not a lot of clearance under these cars.

Yes, there is a way to do it where it won't be hanging low....

What kind of mufflers are being used on that set up shown?

I've had these pics archived for years from back when I was doing research for my 3rd gen. From what I see, it's either mufflerless, or those chrome end are resonators. I left mine single pipe, but put on a muffler eliminator t-pipe in place of the stock muffler. On my old 96 Z28, I put a muffler eliminator pipe on that too, but used resonated tips.

lol, not the backpressure thing again! No engine wants backpressure, what it wants is pipe flow velocity. So to answer your question, no because the preliminary pipe diameters were the same as stock. Below is what I put on my 91 RS. The 305 isn't a monster of an engine, so it had a nice rumble at idle. Louder when heavy on the gas pedal. And pretty much quiet inside when cruising down the highway. I wouldn't consider any of the sound ranges as "loud". I did leave the cat in place, without it made a noticeable increase in noise.

Yeah I know, that backpressure myth will never die! Pretty sure I didn't record the sound of my 91, but there wasn't anything not to like about it. Nice and throaty, not loud inside the car at all. I hate the droning type of rumble and wouldn't have put up with it. And, it was a cheap system compared to an aftermarket name brand that won't give you your money's worth imo.
