Default 1983 z28

Hi everyone,
This is my first post, and it includes a few questions. Last week I bought my first car,,, a running Camaro z28 with some problems, for $1800 and am in the process of restoration, which I estimate will put me out about 4K to 5K. I like doing work myself so that is just parts money. Since I have got it I've put in new inner and outer tie rods, fixed the aftermarket radio and hooked it up to old speaks (which kick butt). And fixed the windshield wiper motor. But there is much more to do. But Before I do, I wanted to check with yall and see if you guys think that the car is worth the money? Also I would like to keep this up as a open question thread for myself since I am somwhat self taught. So If I can't find an answer to my question on the forum I can ask it here.

Thanks, DacMan

its really all up to you,no matter how much money you put into a car,you wont get close to that back if you ever decide to resell it.So if plan to keep this car for a long time,do whatever you want, but if you plan to sell it down the road just consider how much you want to really put into it.

restoring a car back to stock ups the value but these cars arent as rare and not nearly old enoff. you do what ever you like with that car and keep it in great shape and twenty years from now it might be worth selling.

True on all of the above. But if it looks like any other 83 I've seen lately, 5k is not nearly enough. I thought the same thing when I started on mine in January, now 15k later and its not where I want it.

Thanks for the comments guys,
Everyone's been telling me to not throw anymore money into it, but I like it, and it's design, just wanted some assurance that what I was going to do wasn't the dumbest thing ever.

Thanks, DacMan

Here is my first question I could not figure and answer to on this forum, I have ac in my camaro and for some reason the blower will come on, but it won't blow any air out the front vents, only the de-froster, and in front of the register, under the dash pad, somone has drilled holes in the ducts,,, so weird. Is there somthing I don't know about the ac in this car I should, or is this just a wierd case. I just can't seem to get the air to blow anywhere but the de-froster.

Thanks, DacMan

The HVAC controls are vacuum actuated, odds are the vacuum line is not hooked up for them. When there's no vacuum present, the system defaults to the defrost vents.

Thank You Very much Jr. Mechanic,
I took the dash off, and found a "door" if you will, that when opened, allowed air to go to the dash instead of the defogger, so my next question would be were are the lines that I can check for leaks, or them not even being attached. Also I found out today that all my floor pans are rusted through on the bottoms, not the sides, so I think they are salvageable.

Thanks Again, DacMan

Hey Guys,
I just figured out what my problem is. I have all the outgoing lines going to my actuators, but my incoming lines seem to be non existent. I don't know where I can get lines like this but I'll try napa. My question now though, is where do I run my incoming lines from, I know they hook up to the control, in the dash, but I don't know where they come from. T

Thanks, DacMan

Today I went to the junk yard and grabbed a whole new ac system, and found the original ingoing lines that power the actuators. However they were not connected. They are pinkish purpleish so if anyone has any knowlage of where they hook up that would be great. I'm just sitting on this project until I figure out where the thing goes

Thanks, DacMan
