1982 Chevy Camaro with 350
ok i have a 1982 Chevy Camaro with a 1982 350. I have a mechanical fuel pump, gear drive, a Rochester quadrajet carb, i run medium grade gas, a automatic turbo 350, mechanical fan, no ac, and radial t/a tires. The reason im telling you all that is because i need to know why when a floor it the vacuum drops to 5psi then starts to pick up slowly to about 25psi and the car is powerless. My dads 1984 Chevy Camaro with the stock 305 in it can snap the tires loose and spin them to second gear my 350 can even get the tired to chirp. Any ideas as to where the pep in my motor is id appreciate it thank you!

The vacuum dropping while the engine is under a load is natural, there's nothing wrong there. Why your engine has no guts though, is hard to say from here. Where is the timing set at? Is the vacuum advance working? Was everything lined up correctly with the gear drive? Is the choke on the carb opening all the way? When the gas pedal is put to the floor, are the throttle blades on the carb straight up and down? (check that with the engine off btw, having a buddy look for you, or working the gas pedal while you look). Are the secondaries opening up? That should keep you busy till dinner time!!!

Thanks for the replys
Right now it has 2.77's and i have a posy 3.73 next to my house to put in her but it needs cleaned up. The gear drive was checked by the performance shop down the street they said it was good but for the timing on the car i have no clue and come to think of it thats a problem the timing mark is missing off of it so now i ask the question how do i check the timing with the timing mark missing?

The Motor
I believe the motor came out of a 1982 chevy blazer but dont quote me on that one and the motor swap was done by the guy i bought the car from. Im pretty sure he did a good job on it because he owned his own performance and standard maintance shop and the car was his pride and joy.

Sure it did. You're not confusing the full size K5 Blazer with the S-10 are you? Full size came with the 250 c.i. 6 cyl standard, as well as the optional 305, 350, and 379 diesel.
