Bodyman question:71 Taillight panel replacement
I need to replace the taillight panel on a 71 coupe. I assume all that is available are aftermarket? I see them for $80 in some places and $140 in others. Are there differences?
Also, as far as the lower valence area on the replacement panel, does it come with the double layer valence area or is it just the outer skin? |
There are differences, but very little. I haven't purchased or looked at enough to say which is best, but overall I like National Parts Depot for most that sort of thing.
You might call NPD and ask about the lower valance panel, but I'm pretty sure it's just the outter. Those two panels are $83 and $57 at NPD. |
OK I have a tail panel comming in a couple days. Will hope it fits OK.
Another problem arose. The car is weak in the rear floorpan area and we would like to get repair panels. It is not the floor area where your feet go, it is where your azz would go, directly below the bottom section of rear seat. I have found this panel available for 74-81 but not for our 71. Anyone know if it is at all available or how far off would the 74 up panel would be? |
Where did you find that section that will fit up to 81?I seen them in the past for the 70-73 but never have seen them for the later cars, the one you seen may just be a misprint, but i can't remember where i seen the early ones.

Good question. I saw it at a major Camaro parts supplier's website but today I can't find it. If I do find it I will post info.
PLEASE you do the same for the 70-73. |
Go to NPD. They list the floorpans for 70-73 Camaros. Page 160 of the Camaro catalog.

National Part Depot Under rear seat, and for a 71 I only see part c12905 under rear seat for 67-69 Am I missing something? |
Classic industries sells the complete floorpan with the rear seat area, but not sure anyone sells just the under seat area. Usually if that area is bad there's more other areas that need work. Most people buy the whole pan and cut pieces out of it for all the areas they need, rather than swapping in a whole pan.
