Rebuilding 350 and need help

OK so i have a 350 in my z28 now and im going to do a whole over run of the engine and need some help. the engine is titled to have 155,000 miles on the motor and was last titled in 03 and i know for a fact that it hasnt been on the road since.

Plans of so far:
750cfm Holly double pump
edelbrock intake #2701
edelbrock cams and lifter #2201(not sure about the part number)
oil pump
full gasket upper and lower
full tune up

my question for you is ive heard of people doing all of this upper half and having a rod or bearing break due to the new stronger parts. is this true and is there anything else that you would suggest to me to do to the engine? i will be checking rods and the compression is good in all cylinders. any advice will be appreciated thank you :)

It is not a matter of parts breaking because of some more power, but at 150K the main and rod bearings are close to the end of their life, and the additional stress can cause sudden bearing failure. This can lead to all sort of problems including broken rods and crank. The rings are also pretty well done for, and will have problems handling the additional pressure and you can wind up with a smoker.
Checking rods and compression is not going to help with the failing of worn bearings. You could get some plastigage and check the clearance on all bearings and see if they still meet the maximum clearance allowed. You may be able to get away by just replacing the bearings, if you are lucky.
