Question Problems? you must be kidding lol

Just got my carb rebuilt and i put it on the manifold, hooked it all up and you know what else. I may have a bigger problem though i don't really know. my car is an automatic and when i start the car (while its in park duh) the rpms jump and the motor sounds like its getting more of a work out then it deserves while sitting in park. Heres the weird thing if i pop it in drive or reverse the rpms decrease significantly to a steady idle. I really don't know why it would be doing this. Theres a lot of hesitation when i push the gas to accelerate, infact one time i pressed the gas quickly and the motor died. Is it being flooded?

One more issue to name. I removed the oil cap yesterday and smoke drifted out... now i'm not stupid because there's enough oil in the damn thing, maybe it's an oil pump problem? I'm stumped guys lol help a guy out!!

What carb? Do an online search on how to tune your carb. A few of the carb. manufacturers have instruction manuals available for download. It's likely your choke (windup and fast idle) could be out of adjustment, as well as the curb idle.
Smoke coming out of the oil cap opening would mean you have blow-by, which is caused by ring wear letting combustion gases get into the crankcase. It's just a sign of wear, but doesn't necessarily mean engine failure is near. Are your valve covers well vented? PCV valve in one and a breather in the other.
