Knocking while accelerating?
i have a '76 lt that hasn't been running for about a year and i just got it driving again. today when i took it out it drove fine everything picked up beautifully but whenever i accelerated quickly i heard a loud knocking sound. as long as i was accelerating slowly no sound, as soon as my rpms jumped the sound started up again. it seems to not be related to my speed, more so my rpms. any input?
-i am aware after so much time it could just be build up in the engine, but id rather have a second opinion. |
how old is the gas. sure sounds like it could be bad gas. could also be the advance in the distributor is stuck and not adjusting the timing on exceleration.

Take a new tank of gas before bedtime, and call us in the morning! ;)
I wouldn't go worrying about it being anything other than bad gas, until you get rid of the old, stale crap first. |
Okay so i ran her about dry, filled up and put some Lucas in the mix. noise is gone everything's sounding good. thanks guys!

ok so the gas fixed it...if the noise comes back check your harmonic balancer casue thats when its going bad is whne you hear a knocking and its not from a rocker or a piston
