I would think it should if you had the engine mounts, the chevy trans will not bolt to the olds if you were planning on it. I think the olds had a decent bore and stroke but it had "windowed mains" not huge deal unless you were really going to build it up.

So , i would have to reweld new olds403 mounts where the original chevy 350's were and is there an adapter plate that can be mounted to get the chevys th350 to line up with the olds403. And when you go to weld the mounts up how exactly do you know where to weld them up to, what is the science behind it all. Please help this my first engine swap , always just rebuilt the old one and stuck it back in.

The mounts will bolt in its just a matter of lining evrything up maybe drilling new holes. I dont know of an adapter plate..... when you see a trans that is a BOP trans it means buick olds or pontiac

Get motor mounts (both for the engine and frame) for a 79 Firebird with a 403 Olds. The Camaro and Firebirds used the same frame. They should bolt right up.

Trans Dapt makes all kinds of engine & transmission swap adapters. They used to make an adapter to use a "BOP" transmission in a Chevy. I don't know if it worked the other way around or not.

Why the use of a 403 Olds? Just wondering.

Thanks for the info,

Well there is a story for the use of the 403. Well i got the 79 firebird w/ a 403 9 yrs ago rebuilt it to stock with my father( really the only cool thing we had in common). Then a few years later we rebuilt it again boring it out 30thou over , forged all bottom end, long story short the short block is built up. Fast foward to now to 2005 i joined the Air Force put the car in the garage . 4 yrs later i take it out ,but due to the humidity and heat in texas the garage did a number on the body and paint and seals , basically the estetics of the car. Well my buddy has a straight rust free 78 camaro but it has a blown chevy 350 in it. Well the firebird requires two much time and money and the camaro is an easy fix. Bottom line is the engine , the 403 has meaning to it a thing that my father and i spent countless hours on . Really the only thing we both enjoyed.

Use the Firebird as a donor car. Pull the engine, tranny, mounts, exhaust system and what ever else you need and put it in the Camaro.

That is the plan , well there is no exhaust system , running long tube open headers for now. The trans , has a leak and it doesnt always leak just sometimes , my thoughts is when we put it in the last time we hit the detent cable and it cracked it just not sure, but the camaro has a great th350 in it . My other thoughts are to take the chevy th350 and the bop 350 to a tranny shop and give them both of them in exchange for 1 th400.

THIS might help you out.

I just put THIS Flowmaster exhaust system on my car. I really like it. It's a good solid system. Not to hard to install either. There are other good systems out there as well.
