Bad news for me
Last time i posted a thread on here i couldnt get my 79 camaro to start after all the help i got it started only to find out that the piston rod was going to shoot through the block at idle during the tuning for the brand new carb and intake i hadnt even made any adjustments when it blew so i can only imagine that the previous owner screwed up the rebuild..... Anyhow now i need a long block 350 5.7 liter 4 bolt main and i want to know the best place to buy either a brand new crate engine or a rebuilt one what should i look for and wich is the best way to go im not looking to pull the wheels off the ground or anything but id like 350 hp or a little under that but i want tons of throttle response any info would be greatly appreciated

Are you looking for a short block, or a long block? I've never purchased from them, but Crate Engine Depot seems to have good prices. They sell a 350 designed for the 1971-85 GM cars for $1695 It's a 4 bolt main with non-Vortec heads, but not a huge cam. Should make decent power, and the warranty is 3 yrs, 100,000 miles.

Or here at GM parts.com for $1832 delivered:

Or this outfit that sells used and rebuilt crate engines. Long warranty, 7 yrs., 100,000 miles.
