Adjustment
 

If I hit my gas pedal the reaction time seems a little delayed. Just set the fuel/oil mix + idle on the carb. So that seems to be right on. Maybe I need new heads or more engine mods. If someone could point me in the right direction that would be great.

A delay can usually be traced to carburetor issues. Setting the air/fuel mixture and idle wont have much to do with acceleration. Usually that's an accelerator pump issue, but not always. What type of carb are you running? If it's a Holley you may need to check the freeplay on the accelerator pump arm, and repalce the pump diaphram.
You should also check timing, as that can affect it a little also.

secondaries could be opening. plugged idle mixture port. leaky or bad accel pump. out of adjustment pump too much or little pump nozzle. could be a few places.

I think it might have something to do with timing. I know when I bought the car last year. The previous owner was messing around with the timing. So I'm not sure if he got that right. So I will check that. I will also check the carb. I have an Elderbrock carb. This one looks pretty old and warn. Maybe I should take off the carb and give it a nice cleaning and check all the connections. Or check into buying a nice new one.

Not the timing. Pretty sure now it's the carb. Going to find a Holly that's been restored. Maybe that will help me here. Thanks guys for your help again. I"ll keep you posted.

I had that same bog or flat spot when I punched the throttle on my Camaro whenI had the Edelbroke carb on mine too. Did it when it was brand new, and after rejetting, playing with the accelerator pump, and trying all sorts of changes with the secondaires, it never did completely go away.
The only way I finally got rid of the problem was to pull the Edelbroke and install a new Holley. As soon as I put the Holley on I not only got rid of the bog, but gained a ton of power!
