I recently replaced my head gaskets, and I put it all back together. Had trouble with timing issues, distrubtor, etc...Replaced the battery, dist cap and rotor, new spark plugs, new spark plug wires, etc. I have it running now but now there is a loud ticking sound whenever the engine is on, ideling, high rpms, etc. Does anyone have any idea of what it could be?

 

Depending on where the ticking is coming from, I'd say either your valve lash isn't set correctly, or you have an exhaust leak.

 

if you just put everything back together and have broken in the engine/ warmed it up and got it hot, you should go back thru and readjust your valves. i just got done replacing everything from the head gaskets up and i had a similar issue. there is even some videos on youtube on how to adjust your valves while your engine is running to get them set perfectly, good luck.

 

Or a plug wire shorting to ground.
