350 4bbl to 04 chev 6.0 swap in my 81 Z28

I'm gearing up to do a complete drive train swap in my 81 z28. I stumbled upon a 6.0 with 160k on it that runs fine but i want to mate it to a T56 yet keep the stock posi 10 bolt unless its too much torque for it to handle. Has anyone done this or know of any probs I may run into?

I believe that you have the 8.5 inch ten bolt, which is better than the 7.5 inch one. The 8.5 can handle almost as much as a 12 bolt rear end. How much horsepower and torque do you plan on running with?

not quite sure yet, wouldn't mind seeing 5-600 hp once all is said n done but it'll be a stock-rebuilt once i get it pulled but plan on eventually supercharging it after the swap is done. I've found kits for the t56 install on hurst driveline's website but my concern is clearance with the 6.0 if i have to change the whole front end(frame, engine mount, cross members) out to an aftermarket or if the stock will work and i have to up the suspension.

SOunds like a fun project. I would guess that the 5-600 range would prolly put you in the 12 bolt or Ford 9 range. The 6.0 is a great engine and there is alot of performance goodies you can do with it. The only thing I can see that may cause you trouble is the Trans. If your PCM and wiring come from an automatic vehicle then you will need to get a manual PCM and the wiring to use with the T56. Aside from that you should have a fun car on your hands.

Are you gonna get a new subframe that is configured for the LS series engines or are you gonna fabricate the needed mounts? Also are you gonna use rack and pinion or keep the box style the car came with.

Yes I am planning on getting a complete frame actually. I've been checking out my options and so far i've narrowed it down to a kit, well 3 actually, front that incorporates the LS6 motor mounts and is a complete front frame kit with a-arms, brakes etc... and the 4-link suspension set up/full rear frame assy along with the sub-frame connectors which bolt & weld in place. Plus it's powder coated orange, one of my decided colors to accent the car.....besides the already painted engine.

Edelbrock makes a set of motor mounts and headers that make it a drop in deal.
