If the cam bearings are already installed by the machine shoip, then they should be correctly installed. If there was a question with location, they shouldn't have installed them at all until that was answered. Normally the cam bearings are simply centered in the journal they fit into, then the rear soft plug is tapped in afterwards.

Thank you for your reply, the machine said they didn't have a cam to align the bearing with, so they just centered it, told me to make sure it was om the bearing land on the cam. SBC you never had this problem.

No, I've built a few SBC and BBC engines and never had any issues with bearings being just centered. Only engine I ever had a bearing issue with was a 375 HP 396 that has a weird groove in the cam journal, and same weird groove in the cam bearing. Mix one of those cams with a regular solid bearing and I guarantee you'll have some lubricating issues, and no oil pressure at anything close to idle! Don't even ask how I found that one out!
