1978 Posi

I will be installing a 350 chevy engine with 400 HP in my 54 Belair. I have a 78 Camaro 10 bolt 3.23 posi with 28 spline axles. I will put in it. I was told that the posi won't hold up if I burn rubber a lot. Told I should use Eaton with more splines for the axles. What do you think?

Depends on how much horsepower you are putting down and how hard the car tries to hook. I would definitely replace the wheel studs with either hardened ARP 7/16 or better yet, drill them out for 1/2" studs. And, if burnouts are your thing, I'd get a line-lock installed so you're not dragging the rear brakes.

Depends a lot on what trans you have, that 10 bolt will last a lot longer behind an
auto without a real high stall speed than with a stick and dumping the clutch a lot.

It all depends on your rear end prep.Trans and just how you drive your car. I have a 1979 Z-28 RS Camaro.I have changed it over to a Super T-10 4 speed. for a while I had 300 HP 350 in it. And while it had the stock 3:42 gears .and factory posi .I broke the axle retaining pin. And since I was going to upgrade the engine to a Supercharged 500 plus 377 cubic small block.I upgraded it to a Moroso "Brute Strength" posi New Chevrolet 3:42 gears,30 spline Mosier axles. And no issues so far. I tend to over build my cars from lessons learned by myself and other people mistakes. Its a pay me now or pay me later type of thing ,My rear end rebuild cost me over $2.000 at the time .plus the ramp truck fee. So I would try to think ahead of what you are doing.
